Second Round : Uruguay 2-1 South Korea

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

sports-investing-gold by grumm_one

Luis Suarez scored twice including a spectacular winner to hand Uruguay a place in the World Cup quarters-finals at the expense of South Korea. It will be the first time since 1970 the two-time winners have reached the last eight, and it was done on the back of a determined performance against a lively South Korea side.Uruguay took the lead as early as the eighth minute when Diego Forlan played a low ball across the six-yard area which was misjudged by keeper Jung Sung-Ryong and Suarez nipped in at the far post to drill the ball into the net.South Koreans then presssed for an equaliser without really creating too much until Lee Chung-Yong pounced on Maurico Victorino's attempted headed clearance from a free-kick, to nod in from eight yards on 68 minutes. With 10 minutes remaining, Suarez pciked up a half cleared corner, cut in from the left and curled a stunning strike which went in far the far post. The South Koreans pressed and might have taken the game into extra-time, but although substitute Lee Dong-Gook's shot squirmed under the wet jersey of Muslera, it was cleared before crossing the line.Uruguay will now play the winners of the match between Ghana and the United States in the last eight.

As the sports world eagerly awaits Tiger Woods return to the links this week at the Masters, odds have been posted for several prop bets related to his return. Here’s a look at some of the Woods props:

General performance odds

Despite his absence from the PGA Tour this year so far, Woods is a strong bet to make the cut at Augusta. He is -1200 to make the cut while his odds to miss the cut are at +500. In his previous 15 Masters, Woods only missed cut was as an amateur in 1996. There are also odds on whether Woods will be at least tied for the lead after the first round and then go on to win the tournament. The odds for this prop are at +600. While Woods is a four-time Masters champion, he usually doesn’t play his best in the first round at Augusta.

What will Tiger shoot on the 1st Hole of Rd 1?

Woods initial shot to begin the tournament on Thursday will be highly anticipated. The opening hole at Augusta National is a 445-yard, par-4. The favorite in this prop is for Woods to make a par (-250). A bogey is next at +225 while a birdie is at +350.

Tigers Ball To Go In The Water During The Event (No -170, Yes +130)

While there is no water on the front nine of the Augusta National layout, the back nine has a few water hazards for players to navigate through. Water does come into play on holes 11 through 16. The two par-3 holes (12 and 16) are usually the most likely spots for errant shots to get wet.

Lowest Completed Round Shot (Ov/Un: 68.5)

During his four Masters titles, Woods had at least one round of 66 or lower. Last year, Woods lowest score was a 68 in the final round.

Highest Completed Round Shot (Ov/Un: 73.5)

During his four Masters titles, Woods has had only one round that has been at 74 or higher. His high round a year ago was a 72 in the second round. Of his 58 career rounds at the Masters, Woods has had 27 rounds that have been at par or higher.

Tiger Woods Finishing Position

For this prop, Woods is favored to finish in the top 5 at odds of -140. In the last decade, Woods finished fifth or higher on seven different occasions.

BetXTech Odds/Price Display at Pat Potter Sports Betting by melcom_copeland

IA: What words of wisdom would you share with an affiliate just starting out?

G: Find your niche and focus on that.  Speak to as many people as possible and learn from their experiences.

IA: What is one thing that you see a lot of other affiliates doing, that you simply won’t do?

G: Working on a CPA basis only, because at BetBrain we view our commercial contracts with operators as long-term partnerships.  At BetBrain, revenue generated in the long term is a very significant part of our business.  We promote our partners not only to a multitude of new punters, but also to existing account holders, and provide information that reactivates these accounts.

IA: Was there one deciding factor that brought you to partner with Income Access, or a myriad of things?

G: I have dealt with Income Access on both the affiliate software side and their affiliate management with a number of operators.  I find that compared to other systems, the Income Access software provides an affiliate with the most relevant data, in a system that is easy to navigate.  I find all the Income Access personnel both courteous and knowledgeable and most importantly I enjoy working with them.

IA: In terms of software, what is most important to you/your business?

G: A system that is relatively easy to navigate, provides as much information as possible, and that is secure and stable.

IA: What do you think is the biggest misconception that people have about being an affiliate?

G: That is costs very little money to run a good affiliate site.  In order to run a successful affiliate site you need to constantly invest money in improving the site and traffic.  BetBrain employs well over 50 people and we have considerable development, staff and hardware costs.

IA: 2010 is shaping up to be a massive year in sport; do you have any advice for Sportsbook affiliates and merchants to avoid being lost in the crowd?

G: Both affiliates and operators of course need to be prepared for the abundance of sporting events in 2010 and keeping users updated on these events is important.  Making sure your creatives and promotions are relevant to these events is a necessity.  Making sure that you are not running out-of-date Cheltenham Festival banners and promotions during the Champions league final is important!  I have personally been looking forward to the action packed sporting calendar in 2010, and BetBrain have some nice plans for the year.

IA: With the FIFA World Cup coming up, do you have any predictions?

G: I do want Greece to win, but Spain has a great squad and will be the team to beat.  I would also not be surprised to see an African team like Ghana or the Ivory Coast do very well.

There we have it folks, straight from the horse’s mouth. If you want to contact George feel free to email him at gv@betbrain.com. We hope you enjoyed reading this as much as we enjoyed putting it together! Keep watching this space for more interviews from other great affiliates.

Until next time, keep safe.
